    MATTERS OF MATERIAL – @Christies Online · 11 – 24 November 2020

A selection of highlights from our upcoming sale

Matters of Material is a selling exhibition curated by Dina Nasser-Khadivi focusing on supporting diversity in the international contemporary art market while defying stereotypes. Showcasing an intergenerational dialogue between contemporary artists from the Middle East, Africa and Latin America (and their respective diasporas) it explores how these artists make use of materials in their practice. Aiming to provide a platform for Art with a Conscience: Part of the core messages behind the curatorial approach of this initiative is to emphasise how the adopted techniques and media featured in the works by the selected artists translate into key messages and universal concerns such as: sustainability, identity, gender equality and globalisation.

Matters of Material will include works from acclaimed artists such as Monir Farmanfarmain, Olga de Amaral, Eduardo Terrazas, Gabriel de la Mora, Farhad Moshiri, Pascale Martine Tayou, Maha Malluh, Ghada Amer, Mounir Fatmi, Nabil Nahas, Moataz Nasr as well as younger emerging stars such as Lina Ben Rejeb, Catalina Swinburn and Mahmoud Bakhshi.
